Last week and counting

One week left! We’re almost there. We just wanted to say a big “THANK YOU” to everyone who was at our party on Sunday. Pam tried hard to make it a surprise for me, but I wasn’t cooperating, at least Christopher was surprised! J
The theme of the party was “Cabanes a Sucre”!! I’m going to miss it this year and it’s a great way to say good bye to Québec. Thank you Pam! And to everyone who contributed.
On top of the amazing theme and breakfast we had, Christopher and I were given a external hard drive, so we can carry movies and pictures around with us. Another big “Thank you!”. We REALLY appreciate it, and it will be well used. Of course the wonders don’t stop there, we were also given a challenge… the PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT.
It’s about 14 pages of photo requests from everyone. These include, posing with a London Guard, posing as a statue in a museum and my favorite- a photo with Christopher in a kilt! I’m already planning the pre-beer for this photo opt. Christopher and I will be organizing the best way to display our findings and list. Stay tuned!

Shannons hard work - "Bon Voyage"!

".....but they will never take our FREEDOM!"
Thanks Brittany and Chris for the balloon :)

In this last week of freeze-your-tucas-off weather, We are trying to see as many people as we can, and trying very hard not to get sad. I have finally got my back pack and all I need to do now is decide which clothes I’m going to pack – no small fete of course, and let’s not even talk about the shoe fiasco! Psst* don’t tell Christopher but I think I’ll stash some shoes in his backpack…. J It’s just too hard to choose and I can’t part from any of them! My bags are already full and I still have a laundry basket left of clothes to pack….

We are picking up our Visas on Thursday and will be booking our hostel stay. Our flight leaves at 7:45pm on Tuesday. It is a direct flight overnight to London and then we have a 3 hour layover in Hethrow and then a  45 minute flight to Edinburgh! From there we are taking a bus called ”Air link” which will cost a total of 3.30 GBP to the city center. We think when we get there we’ll take a bus tour and get familiar with the city (and weed out the dodgy places we don’t want to live in) I can’t wait to see Edinburgh Castle! There are a few other tours that include most of the sights in Scotland that I think we’ll take advantage of once we get settled.
After the sightseeing and getting over the fact that we’re actually IN Scotland we will pick up some pre-paid “mobile” phones so that we can send out our CV’s with a phone number on them. Then, we need to open a bank account which SWAP is helping us figure out, shouldn’t be too difficult. THEN of course we need to make sure we don’t become the littlest hobo’s and find a place to live. We both seem to be on the same page in that we are very interested in living in “Old Town”, but we’ll take what we can get within our budget. It’s all very exciting and not just a little nerve racking. But with a pint of cold beer (actually I think beer is served room temperature in Scotland-blah! We’ll have to get used to that) and we’ll be fine.

Once Christopher and I get settled over there we’ll try to set up some sort of consistency with this blog, but no promises!

Until next time, keep fit and have fun!
